Inclusive research culture

Embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in research excellence

To deliver world-class translational research, we must ensure that our work equitably serves the diverse people and communities who benefit from, contribute to, enable, and support it. This requires systematically embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) across all aspects of our research infrastructure.

Embracing EDI is more than a legal obligation. It is a matter of social justice and a cornerstone of research excellence. By fostering an inclusive culture, we strengthen the integrity, impact, and relevance of our research.

Our commitment to an inclusive research culture:

  • Open and honest approach: Transparency in practices and decision-making

  • Inclusive environment: Welcoming and respectful spaces for participants and the workforce

  • Celebrating diversity: Recognising and valuing diverse perspectives in research

  • Clear policies and expectations: Setting standards that promote fairness and accountability

  • Equal opportunities: Ensuring access and advancement for all

  • Continuous improvement: Building robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes to advance EDI

Together, these principles guide us in creating research that reflects and serves the richness of our communities.
