BSc (Hons) Pharmacology

NIHR Bioresource Manager

023 8120 4989

David manages the Southampton NIHR BioResource Centre and the Southampton Research Biorepository (SRB) research tissue bank.

The NIHR BioResource Centre Southampton is one of 13 centres across England building a panel of recallable volunteers, both with and without health problems, who are willing to be approached to participate in research studies investigating the links between genes, the environment, health and disease.

He also manages SRB research tissue bank, licenced by the HTA, which is founded to provide a local infrastructure within which biological samples can be collected and securely stored, in addition to a regulatory framework and administration system to coordinate delegated NHS research ethics approval.

He is also responsible in management and administration of the department’s sample management database Freezerworks Unlimited, used for tracking samples taken as part of clinical research studies in the CRF/BRC/ECMC.

On top of that, David helps provide scientific, technical and analytical support for clinical research studies being carried out in the NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility.
